David Kentish, Kentish and Co’s director and co-founder, has joined the committee of the British Institute of Facilities Management’s People Management Special Interest Group (http://www.bifm.org.uk/bifm/groups/sigs/peopma)
The group was formed in 2009 to represent the interests of anyone involved in managing people in the facilities management sector. The group’s mission is to ensure that people considerations are built into the fabric of the corporate decision making process in the FM industry at every level, in the same way that financial implications are routinely taken into account today.
The group holds continuing professional development events three or four times a year, including the highly regarded ‘DNA of a Facilities Manager’ event which generates discussion and insight into different areas of managing people within FM.
“As a sector that is reliant upon its people to add value to its clients, facilities management is heavily influenced by effective people management,” says David Kentish. “I am therefore absolutely delighted to give something back to the industry by volunteering my time with this group.”
The company’s co-founder Liz Kentish has spent many years volunteering for the BIFM including a two-year stint as deputy chairman and three years as chair of the BIFM’s Women in FM group.
